Plans to expand the Woden Cemetery with an additional three hectares will mean the near-capacity space can be used for an extra 15 to 20 years, the ACT Government says.

New plans have been revealed for the 79-year-old cemetery in Canberra’s south, which was expected to run out of burial plots by 2018 or 2019 if it was not expanded.

Territory and Municipal Services Minister Shane Rattenbury said the additional three hectares would mean the site can be used until 2030 or 2035.
